In a world driven by technology, it's disruptive to have a few hours without electricity. Loadshedding doesn't have to mean a loss of productivity if you plan in advance. Here are some tips to manage power outages.
- Plan ahead – Downloading the loadshedding app allows you to better plan your day. The app alerts you of the stage we are in, upcoming loadshedding in your area, and reminds you 55 minutes ahead of your scheduled power outage. You can download the app here > https://sepush.co.za/. Be sure to check your schedule daily and plan ahead.
- Charge up in advance – Knowing your load shedding schedule will allow you to charge your necessary devices ahead of time. Make sure your laptop, Wi-Fi router, and cellphone are fully charged. A best practice tip is to keep it charged whenever the power is on. Check out our home connector deals here > https://www.cellc.co.za/cellc/fixed-lte
- Invest in alternative energy sources – Now, more than ever, we need a stable and dependable delivery of power and there is an alternative to suit everyone's pocket, from power banks, UPS or inverters. - Get a rechargeable LED light – Invest in a rechargeable LED light. Not only is it compact and versatile, but it is also convenient to take around. Remember to keep it plugged in when your power is back so that the power does not run out during outages. They usually last up to 6 hours when fully charged. Tip: Try to purchase one that comes with USB ports to charge your cell phone.
- Invest in surge protectors– It is good practice to unplug expensive electronics during an outage to protect them from power surges when electricity is restored. If this is not possible, you can invest in a surge protector which will help keep your electronics from getting damaged.
