Cell C employee volunteers continue to spread kindness this festive season.   Earlier this year, Cell C Technical Division launched an internal campaign, collecting donations of canned food for their Christmas initiative.

This week ten employees visited Village Safe Haven in Woodmead to hand over their donation of food and other basic necessities.

Susan Harris, care-taker for the Village Safe Haven Orphanage says “ We are grateful to Cell C for this generous donation to the home.  It has come at just the right time and  will put a smile on our children’s faces.”

As an added act of kindness, Cell C’s CSI Department matched their efforts to enable them to buy more cans and items such as cleaning supplies, maize meal, sugar, coffee and tea.

Says Mario Fritz, Executive: Network Operation Center  from Cell C Technical Division: “The initial goal was to collect cans of food  for only one beneficiary orginasation but thanks to the incredible donations from our employees and the company matching our donations, we are delighted that two more organisations will benefit in the next few weeks.”

Suzette van der Merwe, Managing Executive of Cell C’s Corporate Social Investement says: “Employee volunteering is a logical extension of our company values as well as our aspiration to be highly involved in the communities where we operate. Cell C recognises that each employee has the right to volunteer and is cognisant that volunteering is always a matter of choice and as such will not be enforced. Through our Employee Volunteering programme we offer matched funding to support our employee innitiatives at a registered charity/NPO, and to recognise the contribution that they make.”
