CELL C EMPLOYEES IN THE EASTERN CAPE HELP TWO ORGANISATIONS THAT ASSIST SICK CHILDREN

Friday, 15 December 2017

Cell C employee volunteers are spreading smiles this November with each regional office coming to the aid of organisations and needy individuals as part of their #CellCKindness month.

The Eastern Cape region has been alerted, thanks to The Herald newspaper, to the plight of hospitals in the Nelson Mandela Bay area.

The two beneficiaries staff has identified as needing assistance are Project Sparkle and the Anastasi Children’s Trust, both of whom work with hospitals in the region.

Project Sparkle is involved with Livingstone Hospital and others in the area, providing children’s wards with blankets, toys and books. Cell C has delivered children’s toys and blankets to the organisation for distribution.

Anastasi looks after sick children who require hospitalised care on a long-term basis. and has turned their unit into a warm, child-friendly environment where young patients are cared for, regardless of their backgrounds. Cell C has handed over portable DVD players and DVDs and an array of colouring-in books and crayons.

Says Lee Phillips, Regional Executive of Cell C Eastern Cape: “We hope that in some small way we will make a difference to the lives of young patients in the Nelson Mandela metropole. Earlier this year, we introduced our Acts of Kindness campaign with the aim of helping crisis stricken individuals, communities and animals. An act of kindness is a gesture of goodwill towards someone or something. It doesn’t have to cost much or anything at all; what’s important is that it’s an act of expressing genuine care for another person or living being. It’s contagious and an opportunity for our employees to work together, create positive energy and inspire hope.”
