The Miss South Africa 2018 roadshow came to the Eastern Cape this weekend with the regional auditions held at The Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World in Port Elizabeth.
The three Eastern Cape regional qualifiers are Tegan Goldman (25), from Salt Lake in Port Elizabeth, who is doing her honours in Corporate Communication at Nelson Mandela University; Thandokazi Mfundisi (23) from East London, a final year LLB student at Fort Hare and Daniellë de Jager (20) who comes from Benoni but is currently in her second year of study for Biokinetics at Nelson Mandela University.
The three contestants now stand a chance to make it to the Top 12 which will be announced on May 3.
The 60th Miss South Africa 2018 will be crowned on May 27 at the pageant’s diamond jubilee to be held at Sun International’s new flagship Time Square Sun Arena in Pretoria. The winner will take the crown and more than R2-million in prizes.
The Port Elizabeth regional competition adjudication took place on Sunday with pageant judges Bokang Montjane (Miss South Africa 2010), Gareth Flusk (Sun International and the Miss SA Organisation), radio presenter Anele Mdoda and Suzette van der Merwe (Managing Executive Cell C and Miss South Africa, 1990).
Says Gareth Flusk: “We were delighted with the calibre of Eastern Cape entrants in the year that we proudly celebrate our 60th anniversary. We are looking forward towards a competitive final in May.”
The Miss South Africa regional auditions continue at Cape Town’s Grand West Casino and Entertainment World, Sun Park from Friday, March 16, to Sunday, March 18 and wrap up at Carnival City Sun Park in Johannesburg from Friday, April 13, to Sunday, April 15.
