Cell C has come to the aid of an 11-year-old disabled Newcastle youngster as part of its ongoing Random Acts of Kindness initiative.
Young Normen is severely disabled and his family live in dire poverty. His parents are both unemployed and unable to afford Normen’s daily needs. He cannot walk or talk and his daily life is a fight for survival. He needs constant care, wears nappies and sleeps on a ripped mattress next to his parents’ bed. His current wheelchair is falling apart.
Cell C was alerted to the family’s struggle and decided to assist where we could.
Other benefactors were giving a wheelchair and a bed and Cell C decided to donate R10 000 to purchase Normen’s special food, clothing, bedding and other basic necessities.
This week Cell C’s Dean Jooste, Managing Executive for Kwazulu Natal Region, and his team handed over vouchers to Normen’s parents at their residence in Newcastle.
As part of its employee volunteerism programme, employees in Cell C KZN have been asked to donate second hand clothing as well.
