Fourteen entrants – who beat out more than 330 hopefuls – have been named as regional qualifiers at the final Miss South Africa 2018 regional auditions which took place at Carnival City Casino Sun Park in Brakpan.
Two hail from the Free State, another two from KZN and one each from the Western Cape, Limpopo and Eastern Cape with the remaining seven from Gauteng.
The latest regional qualifiers (in alphabetical order) are:
- Anzelle van Staden (24), from Centurion in Gauteng, who has a B Comm degree from the Univeristy of Pretoria and is currently a full-time model.
- Bryoni Govender (21), from Kempton Park in Gauteng, is a third year LLB student at the University of Johannesburg.
- Chanté Holloway (23), originally from Atlantis in the Western Cape and now staying in Johannesburg, who studied at the New York Film Academy and works as an actress and model.
- Chanté Jantjies (25), from Northcliff in Gauteng, has a B Comm in finance from Varsity College and works as a news anchor for the SABC.
- Danielle Wallace (25), originally from Mount Edgecombe in KZN, has an honours degree in social sciences and works as a marketing account manager.
- Lisa Stoffela (25), who comes from Margate in KZN and now lives in Sandton in Gauteng, is a final year B Comm financial management student at Varsity College.
- Margo Fargo (25), originally from Heidedal in the Free State, has a BSC consumer sciences honours degree and is a co-founder of a NPO.
- Michelle Howell (24), from Kempton Park in Gauteng, is a second year student studying consumer sciences at Unisa and works as a designer and au pair.
- Rethabile Lethoko (22), from Greenstone, Edenvale, in Gauteng, is a second year BA student at Varsity College.
- Rita Madingana (25), originally from Welkom in the Free State, is a B Comm graduate from the University of the Free State and now works as a model and NGO entrepreneur.
- Taryn Bornman (25), from Pretoria East in Gauteng, has an honours degree in marketing and works in the finance industry.
- Tharina Botes (21), from Roodepoort in Gauteng, is a first year B Comm marketing and business degree student at Damelin and part-time model.
- Thulisa Keyi (26), who hails from East London and now resides in Fourways in Gauteng, is currently doing articles at KPMG after graduating from UCT.
- Tshegofatso Moloto (22), originally from Limpopo who now lives in Buccleuch in Gauteng, is in her final year B Comm in marketing at the University of Johannesburg and is a part time model.
These regional qualifiers – along with the 14 others chosen during the nationwide Miss South Africa roadshow – now make the Top 28 who stand a chance to make it to the Top 12 who will be announced on May 3.
The judges were Liesl Laurie (radio personality and Miss South Africa 2015), Bokang Montjane (Miss South Africa 2010), radio presenter and TV personality Anele Mdoda, Suzette van der Merwe (Miss South Africa 1990 and Cell C’s representative at the Miss South Africa Organisation) and Gareth Flusk (Sun International and the Miss SA Organisation).
Miss South Africa 2018 will be crowned on May 27 at the pageant’s diamond jubilee to be held at Sun International’s new flagship Time Square Sun Arena in Pretoria. The winner will take the crown and more than R2-million in prizes.
